Handwriting HELP!

Sometimes during handwriting practice my mustangs have a little trouble remembering where to start & when to stop writing their letters. We love the HWOT song, “where do we start our letter? At the top! At the top!” But sometime when we get the workbooks out they begin to just see lines! So what do you do when you aren’t working in a handwriting book? When they aren’t clear on where the top is? There is a special handwriting paper that I’ve used with a blue top line (the sky) & a green bottom line (the ground/grass) which gave me the idea to do the same in their books. If my mustangs are writing all over the place or aren’t sure where the top is I just get out a blue & green marker & quickly mark the top & bottom lines. They think it is so fun & it has solved our problem of where to start & top writing. This works great in our Explode the Code books. Now if they can just figure out the middle line :)
