Happy Anniversary Big Daddy!

I set out on a narrow way, many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
T&T10

But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
T&T

Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Yes He did

I think about the years I spent, just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost, and give it back to you

But you just smile and take my hand

You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

How I Met Big Daddy

No Homeschool Bloggin' today. School went great, kids are having a slumber party with Paw Paw & Gammy = Big Daddy & I are having a date night! YES, he is actually going to take me to dinner & a movie. For my virtual friends, this is HUGE around here. My hard workin' man RARELY ever leaves the farm on his days off. Seriously! Well, unless fishing is involved. (Thank goodness my momma moved to an area with good fishing.) We are going out tonight! YEAH! The kids are already gone & he is finishing up his work around here, so I thought in honor of this special occasion I would post on "us."

I was a 19 year old, single mommy, struggling to attend college full time, work, & still have time for my son. Luckily my family & some wonderful friends made this doable. Anyway, I was taking a college class & need "community service" to finish a government class. The easiest option was to ride around with a police officer for 16 hours. You guessed it, he was the officer I ended up riding with!

Unbeknown to me one of the dispatchers had asked Tim if he "wanted me" to ride with him & he more than approved. The first thing he said to me was, "Smoke bother you?" My pickings were slim so I lied, "No Sir." Then his famous line came out, "I can't read your mind so if you need to pee, you want something to drink . . . you gotta tell me." I should have known then. If I had a penny for every time I heard, "I CAN'T READ YOUR MIND TIFFANY" I would have a pair of Seven Jeans for every day of the week!

I spent the next 2 days riding around with this "cop." 16 hours in a car with someone - you get to know them real good! We had such a good time together - laughing, telling jokes, sharing stories about our kids & our journey down broken roads. I just had this, "this is it," feeling after the first night. I was so giddy, but not so sure what he thought. He made it a point to make it clear that he thought it was "unprofessional to date a woman he met on duty." Ladies - it is ALL a line!

At the end of my last night he tells me that he has pug that just had "pure-bread" puppies & that if I want one for my son he will give us one. I still laugh about this today b/c I don't think the man has ever had anything, "pure-bread" (until me). He gives me a business card with his home & cell number on the back to "call about the puppies." Ahh, so he is interested! I knew it when he bought me lunch!! He drops me off at my car & I now have a boost of confidence. I call his cell on my way home & tell him, "I'm not the kind of girl to call men, so if you are interested, here is MY number, you call me!" He was a little shocked by my forwardness, but thrilled to have my number without having to ask for it.

. . . He called!
